The Anatomy of a Space Mission: How All Partners Work Together for Success
Monday, 22 July 2024
While all of us use space every day, most people only think about rocket launches when it comes to space missions, which is a pity because there are so many other parts to a space mission, requiring a diverse range of skills to execute. Join us as we hear from a panel of experts as they discuss how all the segments of a space mission do what they do, so that everyone here on Earth can benefit from what can be done in space.

Life in Space:
Collaborations in Space & Health
2 – 5pm (1pm Lunch & Registration)
Returning for the second year, the German-Australian Chamber of Industry and Commerce along with the German Business Council of South Australia present Life in Space: International Collaborations in Space & Health, generously sponsored by Merck Life Science ANZ and the SA Government Department of State Development.
Space medicine, space life sciences and biomedical microgravity research are topics that connect our daily lives on Earth to what is happening in space.
The changes caused by the space environment to astronauts’ bodies can be examined as models of ailments such as aging, osteoporosis, and wound healing.
On the International Space Station, life sciences research is conducted to understand phenomena such as the effects of fluid dynamics on protein crystallisation and its implications for drug delivery.
Beyond this, fundamental plant science is also being investigated to understand the growth of food under harsh and restricted conditions, particularly for future space missions.
We are excited to feature CTO and Astronaut from Axiom Space, Koichi Wakata, as well as highly experienced speakers from both the space and health fields.
